The Bridges gardens are unique in that they run on bottle water conservation drip system. Currently, the students are working on perfecting the bottle drip system. The beauty of a drip irrigation system is that it efficiently places every drop of water right where the plants can use it. There's no overflow, and little evaporation into the atmosphere. The students are able to water the garden less than once a week with relatively little water and keep the gardens well hydrated. Students are keeping the bountiful perennials from last year healthy and productive, while they prepare the soil for the annuals and crops we are to grow starting early spring. Students are studying ways to provide nutrition for our plants and are making plans to keep them healthy all year. Wa are also taking data on how our actions affect the plants.
