We are a NewTech School

New Tech Network works nationwide with schools and communities to develop innovative partnerships. They provide services and support that enable schools to fundamentally rethink teaching and learning. The goal is to enable students to gain the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in life, college and the careers of tomorrow. The New Tech design provides an instructional approach centered on project-based learning, a professional culture, and integrated technology in the classroom. The hands-on, multi-year approach gives Bridges  Tech the structure and support to ensure long-term success.

Why NewTech?

The world is changing and public education needs to follow. Basic skills are no longer enough to allow our children to succeed in the modern world. To ensure our students are prepared for college and career in the near future, Bridges Academy uses a proven school model that meets the needs of our changing society. We provide our students with a culture that empowers, technology that enables, and curriculum that engages. In this way, we boost the way a child learns. Bridges Academy is a middle school charter that connects learning to today’s world.
Technology Club at Bridges

Tech Club with Mrs. Goble offers a wide range of technology activities and courses. When you finish a course in Tech Club, you can earn badges which you can put on a college application or work resume. Here are some of the courses that you can do in our Tech. Club:

IT essentials- The IT Essentials course is an introduction to working with technology in hands-on and innovative ways. Youth start by exploring computer hardware and software, then build on these skills by designing new ways of interacting with technology.

IR Admin- The IT Admin course is a follow-up to the IT Essentials course. Youth learn the structure and design of networks and the internet while exploring interfaces through peripherals, operating systems, and app design.

Tech Team- The Tech Team course is for groups looking to provide technical and user support at their site as a help desk. In addition to completing both IT courses. Tech Team groups participate in team building activities, build troubleshooting skills, develop routines and professional communication, and give back through community service.

Serious Games- The Serious Games Design course introduces youth to the building blocks of the game design and the world of socially responsible gaming. Participants then research, design, and code a game prototype in Scratch.

They also learn how to draw shapes and objects in 3D and to create models in 3D CAD (computer-assisted design) software.

Coding- Mouse's Coding course allows groups to get familiar with one of today's most valuable 21st-century skills. this course starts by focusing on front-end web design skills with activities on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Learners then move to the command line where they get experience with a few languages and basic computer programming processes.

Video Creator- In this age of Photoshop, social networks, and the spread of fake news, visual literacy is more important than ever.
